Healesville I - Tawny Frogmouth

For the rest of this month, I am going to post some shots that I took at the Healesville Sanctuary. Healesville Sanctuary is one of Australia’s most recognised attractions, showcasing more than 200 species of Australian wildlife.

Today's 'creature' is the Tawny Frogmouth. He obligingly sat and posed on his keeper's hand for me and after his photo shoot, scoffed down two small mice. Whole!

  1. He looks very severe. Did you feed himn the mice?

  2. @BFG: Nooooo! I saw how he gulped the mice down. Wouldn't want to get my fingers too close to that beak!

  4. He looks very mean, though at the same time the photo screams a bad hair (feather) day :-)... Great shot!

  5. @AB & Mirela: If I remember correctly, he was watching a Tasmanian Devil that was behind a glass wall behind us.
